A lot has happened in April, what with bioLabs' 2026 Investor Day in Philadelphia and more partnerships across the country with companies that amaze us with the work they do everyday. One exciting update from the Lab Belay development team was the launch of Beaker's 3.0 agent-lift. Our updates have really changed how a researcher and lab ops team can interact and the scope has widened which maintaining the level of precision we demand.

Now with support for Researchers

We're happy to announce our 3rd version of our Beaker AI agent. We've taken the feedback from our clients and are excited for this material improvement in our AI. The modern researcher develops models that need a wide range of data from many sources. We know that to keep a lab operating in alignment, the research and operations teams need to be able to climb the same line from the same anchor points. Our structure is anchored on these principles that your team can rely upon, when using tools that are well maintained, that your next steps come with context and citations. Beaker is now equipped with a full sub-agent harness, which allows additional autonomy while keeping our agent focused on your task. This architectural improvement has allowed us to enhance the speed, functionality, and visibility of these agents. Our Research Agent now has access to a wider array of journal articles and trusted sources to draw upon, and our PDF writing agent is faster with more professional outputs and better citations. Additionally we leverage the thinking system of the underlying foundational models to improve responses. Finally our Beaker Chat UI has been overhauled to give much deeper visibility into what our agents are doing - from writing their task list to proofreading their PDFs and citations before surfacing them to the user.

The improvements don't end there, we've better support for reading exactly the SDS sheets and Manuals that are relevant in your conversation. Beaker also accepts PDFs and images directly into the chat so you can take a picture and feed it to beaker.
